FC Chișinău were furious when Iulian Mârza was red carded, 4 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 3 minutes into the game, one of FC Chișinău:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave FC Salcuta a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Liviu Medelean, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Chișinău's Tudor Prutean. 0-1. Tudor Prutean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Pricop in the 12th minute of the match. A nice corner shot did that Emilian Pricop got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ion Cazacu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 27th match minute, FC Salcuta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liviu Medelean to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Ion Creangă managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Chișinău's supporters rose to their feet, but Ion Creangă was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ion Cazacu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ion Creangă to make the kick off. FC Chișinău's Ion Creangă got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emilian Pricop sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sergiu Pricop could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Tudor Prutean made a huge save. David Beckham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ion Cazacu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dan Carp during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. FC Chișinău's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ion Creangă was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ion Creangă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emilian Pricop sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. David Beckham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ion Cazacu having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the FC Chișinău players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
