The referee ignored BFC Daugavpils's protests and gave Sigurds Vessers a yellow card for diving instead. Jānis Serpovskis missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 21 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Valērijs Kristolds right hand side. 23 minutes into the match, BFC Daugavpils's goal looked a bit too open when Ilgonis Nosuls came free, but Valērijs Kristolds reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Smuidris Zidelis's late challenge caught a BFC Daugavpils's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Smuidris Zidelis helped the player get up and apologised. Agnis Tamans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toms Kriss in the 27th minute of the match. The supporters of Neftchi Baku FC booed when BFC Daugavpils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toms Kriss didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Valters Hincenbergs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BFC Daugavpils's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Neftchi Baku FC the free kick. Valters Hincenbergs kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jēkabs Pampavs in the 34th minute of play forced BFC Daugavpils's goalkeeper Valērijs Kristolds to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 36 played minutes BFC Daugavpils got a freekick which was hit by Toms Kriss. The supporters of Neftchi Baku FC booed when BFC Daugavpils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toms Kriss didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Jēkabs Pampavs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Neftchi Baku FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jēkabs Pampavs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valērijs Kristolds breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Guntis Tabulevics sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valērijs Kristolds made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jēkabs Pampavs in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Neftchi Baku FC's goalkeeper Agnis Tamans, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 69 minutes into the match, Jēkabs Pampavs dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Valērijs Kristolds, 0-1. Eduards Znots kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Ilgonis Nosuls fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valērijs Kristolds having to interfere. In the 82nd minute Jēkabs Pampavs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valērijs Kristolds saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jēkabs Pampavs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valērijs Kristolds having to interfere. Jēkabs Pampavs might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valērijs Kristolds. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jēkabs Pampavs ran back to his position shaking his head. 92 minutes into the game, Jēkabs Pampavs recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Valērijs Kristolds. Jēkabs Pampavs showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Neftchi Baku FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
