The audience was convinced that Panos Linardakis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Diogenis Kalinichtas was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. With his leg Anastasios Meimarakis managed to avoid a goal in the 17thth minute, when Gournai FC's Thodoris Prigas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Khasiα FC's Charalambos Patsas got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Gournai FC's Loukas Xirafis got a free kick in the 20th minute. Diogenis Kalinichtas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kosmas Venetsianos in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Gournai FC's goal looked a bit too open when Panos Linardakis came free, but Diogenis Kalinichtas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 31 played minutes Gournai FC got a freekick which was hit by Apostolis Papagiannopoulos. After having played for 32 minutes, Kosmas Venetsianos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Khasiα FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kosmas Venetsianos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the game, Kosmas Venetsianos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Khasiα FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gournai FC the free kick. After 33 played minutes Khasiα FC got a freekick which was hit by Kosmas Venetsianos. Khasiα FC's Kosmas Venetsianos got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Khasiα FC's Panos Linardakis in 41 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Diogenis Kalinichtas guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. If Kosmas Venetsianos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 45th match minute, Gournai FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Themistoklis Alexoudis to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the game, Khasiα FC's Kosmas Venetsianos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Diogenis Kalinichtas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Panos Linardakis during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Khasiα FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Panos Linardakis hit a great ball. When Charalambos Patsas came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Khasiα FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charalambos Patsas couldn't finish the play. Gournai FC's Diogenis Kalinichtas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Gournai FC from getting a goal against them. In the 58th minute, Khasiα FC's Kosmas Venetsianos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Diogenis Kalinichtas. Diogenis Kalinichtas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Panos Linardakis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 61stth minute, Diogenis Kalinichtas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After having played for 63 minutes, Kosmas Venetsianos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Khasiα FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kosmas Venetsianos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Khasiα FC defense, Zacharias Tsalikis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anastasios Meimarakis. The Khasiα FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anastasios Meimarakis should have stopped the shot. With an all-out effort, Khasiα FC's Diogenis Kalinichtas threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kosmas Venetsianos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Panos Linardakis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Diogenis Kalinichtas made a huge save. Anastasios Meimarakis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thodoris Prigas's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. If Kosmas Venetsianos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nikolas Tziortzopoulos during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Khasiα FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 86th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Gournai FC a penalty, 88 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Apostolis Papagiannopoulos, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Khasiα FC's Anastasios Meimarakis. 2-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Charalambos Patsas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Khasiα FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Charalambos Patsas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diogenis Kalinichtas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Khasiα FC's Anastasios Meimarakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zacharias Tsalikis in the 99th minute of play. Gournai FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Khasiα FC had controlled the match.
