If Nikos Lazarakos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Michalis Tsatsarelis fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Liverpool Gr's protests and gave Michalis Tsatsarelis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th minute, Michalis Tsatsarelis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. PANIONIOS FC's Fanis Stamoulis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nikos Lazarakos in the 10th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Liverpool Gr's Michalis Tsatsarelis got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 12th minute of the match Diogenis Kaplanis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kostas Karpouzopoulos skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Liverpool Gr getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Michalis Theofilidis hit a great ball. After having played for 30 minutes, Efthimis Soufis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PANIONIOS FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Efthimis Soufis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kostas Karpouzopoulos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miltiadis Laspouras in the 32nd minute of play. If Efthimis Soufis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paschalis Loukoumas during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Paschalis Loukoumas kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. PANIONIOS FC's Fanis Stamoulis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save PANIONIOS FC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Nikos Lazarakos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool Gr's supporters rose to their feet, but Nikos Lazarakos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fanis Stamoulis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nikos Lazarakos to make the kick off. Veniamin Papachantzakis charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Veniamin Papachantzakis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Efthimis Soufis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kostas Karpouzopoulos having to interfere. In the 60th minute, PANIONIOS FC's Efthimis Soufis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Aggelos Kourelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kostas Karpouzopoulos having to interfere. Kostas Karpouzopoulos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Efthimis Soufis's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Liverpool Gr's Nikos Lazarakos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fanis Stamoulis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 85th minute Nikos Lazarakos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fanis Stamoulis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The PANIONIOS FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing PANIONIOS FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
