The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Nikos Lazarakos came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Liverpool Gr fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nikos Lazarakos couldn't finish the play. 27 minutes into the match, Skoúnda FC's Valentinos Theodorou sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kostas Karpouzopoulos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 53rd minute of the game, Thalis Kapetanidis landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nikiforos Samaras during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Themis Vyntras was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 81 minutes into the match. 81 minutes into the game, one of Skoúnda FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Skoúnda FC's goalkeeper Michalis Leontiou, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nikos Lazarakos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 98th minute, Nikos Lazarakos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool Gr's supporters rose to their feet, but Nikos Lazarakos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michalis Leontiou breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Liverpool Gr supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Liverpool Gr would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
