Juha-Pekka Multaharju showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ari Mikkola, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 6th minute, Saul Hanninen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 9 minutes into the game, Arsi Valtonen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Juha-Pekka Multaharju was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Eetu Lampinen's late challenge caught a FC Ribale's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eetu Lampinen helped the player get up and apologised. Eetu Lampinen hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Aarne Villanen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sauli Mäkelä was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Rauli Laatikainen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sauli Mäkelä read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. The supporters of FC Ribale booed when Käyrälä was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarvo Ramstadius didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 19th play minutes Aarne Villanen shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Sauli Mäkelä and just under the crossbar into goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aarne Villanen in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sauli Mäkelä prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arsi Valtonen got free with Juha-Pekka Multaharju in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 27 played minutes FC Ribale got a freekick which was hit by Untamo Turunen. In the 28th minute, Saul Hanninen fired a really elegant long shot, but Juha-Pekka Multaharju threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Aarne Villanen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sauli Mäkelä having to interfere. After 32 minutes, Aarne Villanen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Ribale and the Käyrälä players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a little luck, FC Ribale's Juha-Pekka Multaharju got control of the ball when Arsi Valtonen tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 40th minute, Reima Myllys hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Käyrälä's goalkeeper Sauli Mäkelä, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Untamo Turunen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Ribale made a substitution. Esko Vehanen replaced Jami Santahuhta. After a rather tough play, Käyrälä's Taneli Sauso got a free kick in the 63rd minute. FC Ribale's Juha-Pekka Multaharju played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arsi Valtonen in the 67th minute of play. Käyrälä's defense didn't have a chance, in the 75th minute, when Aarne Villanen scored to the left of an out of position Sauli Mäkelä, making the score, 1-2. FC Ribale made a substitution. Juha-Pekka Kangaskorpi replaced Aatos Masalin. Sauli Mäkelä stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aarne Villanen's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Käyrälä's zone, Untamo Turunen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sauli Mäkelä came out of the goal and Untamo Turunen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Untamo Turunen struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Sauli Mäkelä didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ribale. Osmo Lydman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Sauli Mäkelä tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Käyrälä booed when FC Ribale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvi Lahtela didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute of the match Saul Hanninen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juha-Pekka Multaharju skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 98th minute, Elias Vikström managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Ribale's supporters rose to their feet, but Elias Vikström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sauli Mäkelä breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Käyrälä fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Ribale were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
