Käyrälä's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kalervo Litmanen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 22 minutes into the match, Westbay FF's goal looked a bit too open when Taneli Sauso came free, but Rainer Palonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niko Rimpilä hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Westbay FF's Pertti Kaven got a free kick in the 27th minute. The audience was convinced that Arsi Valtonen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rainer Palonen was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. With a left leg Sauli Mäkelä saved Käyrälä from getting behind. If Niko Rimpilä had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Taneli Sauso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rainer Palonen having to interfere. Käyrälä's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
