The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Brahenlinna IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kauno Jatkola to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 4 minutes, Antero Nikko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Härjänvatsa IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antero Nikko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 6th minute of the match, Tero Äijälä got a very nice opportunity to score, but Berthold Böhmländer was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Berthold Böhmländer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tero Äijälä in the 13th minute of the match. With a little luck, Brahenlinna IFK's Berthold Böhmländer got control of the ball when Tero Äijälä tried to sneak it across the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Brahenlinna IFK's goalkeeper Berthold Böhmländer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eero Kärki. Tero Äijälä received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Tero Äijälä took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Berthold Böhmländer to make any attempt to save it. In the 36th minute Ari Sillgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berthold Böhmländer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tero Äijälä could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Berthold Böhmländer made a huge save. When Veikko Hautaoja came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Härjänvatsa IFK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Veikko Hautaoja couldn't finish the play. Berthold Böhmländer made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Tero Äijälä sent off a good shot on target. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tero Äijälä to make the kick off. Tero Äijälä scored 7-0 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Berthold Böhmländer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Isko Lepistö charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Isko Lepistö the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Brahenlinna IFK getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Brahenlinna IFK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. In the 89th minute Ari Sillgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berthold Böhmländer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Berthold Böhmländer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Taito Palander, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
