Heikki Lumijärvi did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Sampsa Lätti 9 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute of the match Rauli Paavola sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sampsa Lätti skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rauli Paavola got free with Sampsa Lätti in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sampsa Lätti was a little too slow when Heikki Lumijärvi got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heikki Lumijärvi in the 22nd minute of play forced Academy's goalkeeper Sampsa Lätti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sampsa Lätti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rauli Paavola, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 30th match minute, Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eero Tuulola to maneuver through the defense. Rauli Paavola could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Sampsa Lätti made a huge save. The supporters of Heinolahti FC booed when Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahto Pentsinen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Heinolahti FC's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 41st minute of the game, when Juho Ronkainen after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Academy's goal. Juho Ronkainen was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. When Juha Ripatti came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Heinolahti FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juha Ripatti couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

After some careless play in the Academy defense, Heikki Lumijärvi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sampsa Lätti. The Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sampsa Lätti should have stopped the shot. Sampsa Lätti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rauli Paavola in the 57th minute of play. A collision led to Academy getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Eero Tuulola hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the match, Heinolahti FC's Juho Ronkainen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sampsa Lätti narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Juha Ripatti came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Heinolahti FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juha Ripatti couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute Rauli Paavola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sampsa Lätti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Academy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Riku Jämsen in the 76th minute. After taking down the ball on Academy's corner Lasse Myllys fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Alfred Caspersson quite easily take care of the ball. Juha Ripatti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sampsa Lätti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Heinolahti FC's Alfred Caspersson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Heinolahti FC from getting a goal against them. At last the ball reached Paul Haapaniemi at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Academy. 6-0. A collision led to Heinolahti FC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Rauli Paavola hit a great ball. Heinolahti FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
