Sampsa Lätti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for East Kontula. When Joonas Rosendahl came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the East Kontula fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joonas Rosendahl couldn't finish the play. If Edvard Kaarniemi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 12 minutes, Tapio Sjögren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. East Kontula's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tapio Sjögren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 17 played minutes East Kontula got a freekick which was hit by Esko Uusipaavalniemi. Jori Kokko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nuutti Siponen's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Tapio Sjögren came free, but Sampsa Lätti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 27 played minutes Academy got a freekick which was hit by Eero Tuulola. The supporters of Academy booed when East Kontula was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hannu Kampman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Academy's Petri Riksman couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 31st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for East Kontula. Academy's Ahto Pentsinen got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tapio Sjögren could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Sampsa Lätti made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, Academy's goalkeeper Sampsa Lätti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tapio Sjögren. In the 42nd minute, Eero Tuulola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 44 minutes into the game, Kalervo Rovio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. East Kontula's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Academy the free kick. Kalervo Rovio kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tapio Sjögren to strike the kick off in the second half. Sampsa Lätti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvard Kaarniemi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ossi Blom in the 56th minute of play forced Academy's goalkeeper Sampsa Lätti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nuutti Siponen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 63 minutes into the game, East Kontula's Edvard Kaarniemi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sampsa Lätti made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tapio Sjögren in the 69th minute of play forced Academy's goalkeeper Sampsa Lätti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th match minute, Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eero Tuulola to maneuver through the defense. Ossi Blom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Janne Kaukonen hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Petri Riksman from long distance, 74 minutes into the match, got Jori Kokko's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The corner ended in Petri Riksman almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but East Kontula's Jori Kokko did a great save. Edvard Kaarniemi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Sampsa Lätti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 82 minutes of play, East Kontula's Edvard Kaarniemi made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sampsa Lätti was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sampsa Lätti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvard Kaarniemi, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Edvard Kaarniemi managed to get in a good position for a shot. East Kontula's supporters rose to their feet, but Edvard Kaarniemi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sampsa Lätti breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Academy's Aatu Kujanpää got a free kick in the 98th minute. Academy's Sampsa Lätti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juha Roiha in the 99th minute of play. East Kontula's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
