Spectators: 9165 (Terracing: 6875, Seating: 2108, VIP seats: 182) Academy's Sampsa Lätti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ossi Blom in the 2nd minute of play. Terho Reponen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Jori Kokko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes into the game, Hannu Kampman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. East Kontula's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Academy the free kick. After 11 played minutes East Kontula got a freekick which was hit by Juha Roiha. Timo Väisänen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Jori Kokko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 14 minutes, Terho Reponen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Terho Reponen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sampsa Lätti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvard Kaarniemi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Academy booed when East Kontula was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esko Uusipaavalniemi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Timo Väisänen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sampsa Lätti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tapio Sjögren, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. The audience was convinced that Joonas Rosendahl's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sampsa Lätti was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. 35 minutes into the match, Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Ossi Blom came free, but Sampsa Lätti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edvard Kaarniemi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sampsa Lätti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Sampsa Lätti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edvard Kaarniemi in the 41st minute of play. In the 45thth minute of the game Joonas Rosendahl who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academy's Sampsa Lätti was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Terho Reponen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Tapio Sjögren made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th match minute, Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Onni Nitti to maneuver through the defense. After 57 minutes, Veli Kirjonen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Academy and the East Kontula players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joonas Rosendahl got free with Sampsa Lätti in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Academy's Ismo Luhtio got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Timo Väisänen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jori Kokko having to interfere. Tapio Sjögren had several of the Academy's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 75 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Sampsa Lätti as he didn't even see the shot coming. Perttu Hietamäki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Jori Kokko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Edvard Kaarniemi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tapio Sjögren spun around in front of the goal 83 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Academy's goal. Sampsa Lätti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tapio Sjögren, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. When the final whistle sounded East Kontula left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Academy.
