The supporters of Tealama booed when Karlova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egon Kimmel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uudo Aas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martti Kont having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Karlova's Peeter Tarien threw himself towards the right post 27 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mikk Nuiaots, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Jüri Käärt might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Peeter Tarien. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jüri Käärt ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 31st match minute, Karlova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aivar Jors to maneuver through the defense. Martti Kont came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Tealama's Jürgen Kalle. But to his dismay, Jürgen Kalle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jüri Käärt got free with Peeter Tarien in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Jüri Käärt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Avo Valvik hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.
