Kyknos Maragos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Zacharias Barraboutis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. FC.PONTOS's Troizen Laganas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stelios Soukis in the 11th minute of play. Troizen Laganas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Koronis Maragos in the 20th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zacharias Barraboutis in the 22nd minute of play forced APOEL.F.C's goalkeeper Kyknos Maragos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC.PONTOS's Telis Patrianakos got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kyknos Maragos was a little too slow when Zacharias Barraboutis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 26th minute. The score was now 2-0. The long shot by Briarios Rigatos in the 36th minute really tested Kyknos Maragos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 39 minutes in the game, Zacharias Barraboutis fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Kyknos Maragos having to interfere. Kyknos Maragos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zacharias Barraboutis in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 42nd minute, Anios Malihoudis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zacharias Barraboutis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute, Zacharias Barraboutis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Zacharias Barraboutis made the kick off in the second half. Zacharias Barraboutis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Manos Koulaxizis's late challenge caught a FC.PONTOS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in FC.PONTOS's zone, Koronis Maragos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Troizen Laganas came out of the goal and Koronis Maragos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Xouthos Diasakos fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC.PONTOS's protests and gave Xouthos Diasakos a yellow card for diving instead. Xouthos Diasakos kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. APOEL.F.C's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
