An unexpectedly hard shot by Ture Vester in the 28th minute of play forced Anorthosis Famagusta FC's goalkeeper Deukalion Pappayiorgas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Deukalion Pappayiorgas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inakhos Petropoulos in the 29th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Anorthosis Famagusta FC defense, Inakhos Petropoulos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Deukalion Pappayiorgas. The Anorthosis Famagusta FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Deukalion Pappayiorgas should have stopped the shot. Jan-Joost Hosselaer charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
