The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aybars Türkol might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tarık Hürol. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aybars Türkol ran back to his position shaking his head. Cemil Salar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murat Güngör having to interfere. Erdi Ergüner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Tarık Hürol made a huge save. After 17 played minutes Sokrates got a freekick which was hit by Necmi Uğursoy. Ünsal Talayhan charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ünsal Talayhan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th match minute, Sokrates was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ünsal Talayhan to maneuver through the defense. Erdi Ergüner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Tarık Hürol made a huge save. Gafur İçten kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ahmet Orhan Mengü got free with Tarık Hürol in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the match, Afyonspor's goal looked a bit too open when Aybars Türkol came free, but Tarık Hürol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Afyonspor's goal looked a bit too open when Necmi Uğursoy came free, but Tarık Hürol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cemil Salar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Afyonspor's Tarık Hürol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erdi Ergüner in the 52nd minute of play. But to his dismay, Aybars Türkol quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. A collision led to Sokrates getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Ahmet Orhan Mengü hit a great ball. Tuncer Hedef's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Murat Güngör firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of Afyonspor booed when Sokrates was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erdi Ergüner didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tuncer Hedef had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. Tarık Hürol was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tarık Hürol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aybars Türkol in the 94th minute of the match. Tarık Hürol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erdi Ergüner, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
