Onurhan Baysungur started the match with the kick off. Çelik Sadri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Şerafettin Ersalmış in the 6th minute of the match. With his leg Çelik Sadri managed to avoid a goal in the 9thth minute, when FC Beşiktaş's Şerafettin Ersalmış fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Galatasaray's Şenol Sunullah got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 15th minute, Şerafettin Ersalmış fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Şerafettin Ersalmış in the 18th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Çelik Sadri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aktaç Uralp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Onurhan Baysungur in the 20th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mücahit Oğuzer during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Galatasaray getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Mücahit Oğuzer hit a great ball. Hurşit Hendekli struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Çelik Sadri didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Beşiktaş. Galatasaray's Çelik Sadri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Şerafettin Ersalmış in the 29th minute of play. Çelik Sadri was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Şerafettin Ersalmış showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 31 minute of play. Hurşit Hendekli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hurşit Hendekli's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 36thth minute, Çelik Sadri skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Aktaç Uralp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Şenol Sunullah in the 43rd minute of play. Rasim Usluer charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rasim Usluer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Beşiktaş booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rasim Usluer didn't get a good kick on the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Şerafettin Ersalmış made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Hüseyin Can Neşit hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 57 minutes, Batıray Altıncı mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Beşiktaş and the Galatasaray players grew even worse after the yellow card. Batıray Altıncı hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Aktaç Uralp didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Onurhan Baysungur went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 72nd minute Hurşit Hendekli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Çelik Sadri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Battal Cüneyt Ruçhan kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Galatasaray's Rasim Usluer tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Çelik Sadri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hurşit Hendekli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Çelik Sadri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Şerafettin Ersalmış, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Özgün Erzincanlı managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Beşiktaş's supporters rose to their feet, but Özgün Erzincanlı was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Çelik Sadri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 92nd minute Galatasaray were awarded a corner. Rasim Usluer went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Galatasaray's corner Mithat Sezal fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aktaç Uralp quite easily take care of the ball. After 93 minutes, Şenol Sunullah mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galatasaray and the FC Beşiktaş players grew even worse after the yellow card.
