After 9 minutes Karagümrük's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Saip Canel who took care of the corner kick. Hamdullah Gezer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fehmi Sarpkan went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 16th minute Bayındır Mehmet Çeliktaş shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lütfü Vefai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lütfü Vefai made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bayındır Mehmet Çeliktaş in the 21st minute. Mehmet Emin Sabi hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Behzat Neşat struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Lütfü Vefai didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Karagümrük. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 74 minutes into the match, Trabzonspor's goal looked a bit too open when Bayındır Mehmet Çeliktaş came free, but Lütfü Vefai reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
