The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bayindir FK's Rüstem Nebahattin got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bünyamin Şatıroğlu in the 7th minute of play forced Denizlispor's goalkeeper İlhami Kamuran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. İlhami Kamuran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bünyamin Şatıroğlu in the 10th minute of play. Cengizhan Suavi struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Faruk Bengisoy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Denizlispor. Denizlispor's Cengizhan Suavi suffered a concussion after 14 minutes and had to leave the field. Agah Masum's late challenge caught a Denizlispor's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Agah Masum helped the player get up and apologised. İlhami Kamuran stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rahman Ülger's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Faruk Bengisoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hüseyin Cahit Yağızbay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Bünyamin Şatıroğlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Denizlispor booed when Bayindir FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rahman Ülger didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute Hüseyin Cahit Yağızbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Faruk Bengisoy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ali Galip Hallaç sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rahman Ülger kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. During the 46th minute of the match Agah Masum completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Agah Masum a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 47th minute, Agah Masum hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doğan Akçiçek took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 48th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Faruk Bengisoy. Bayindir FK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hüseyin Cahit Yağızbay to make the kick off. If Hüseyin Cahit Yağızbay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ünsal Birtan kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After 55 played minutes, Denizlispor's Güvenç Geylanoğlu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Faruk Bengisoy came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Denizlispor reached it. Bayindir FK's Rüstem Nebahattin got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Bayindir FK defense, Hüseyin Cahit Yağızbay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Faruk Bengisoy. The Bayindir FK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Faruk Bengisoy should have stopped the shot. After having played for 69 minutes, Saip Doğu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bayindir FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Saip Doğu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Denizlispor's İlhami Kamuran got control of the ball when Batur Cebir tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 77 minutes, Batur Cebir mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bayindir FK and the Denizlispor players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 77 played minutes Bayindir FK got a freekick which was hit by Batur Cebir. Ünsal Birtan hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but İlhami Kamuran showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
