In the 20th minute Filimon Knyazev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Van De Broeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute Márton Irmai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afşar Uzgoren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. GÓRNIK ZABRZE were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Galatasaray's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Katon Feryanto took the corner. The referee ignored Galatasaray's protests and gave Petr Blokhin a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lian Cai got free with Afşar Uzgoren in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Márton Irmai took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Afşar Uzgoren to make any attempt to save it.

Galatasaray's Afşar Uzgoren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artem Alymov in the 51st minute of play. After 56 played minutes GÓRNIK ZABRZE got a freekick which was hit by Anatoliy Guschin. Mark Van De Broeck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vladimir Alferov in the 57th minute of play. Filimon Knyazev kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Márton Irmai came free, but Afşar Uzgoren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Petr Blokhin was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 89 minutes had been played. Artem Alymov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afşar Uzgoren having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the GÓRNIK ZABRZE players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
