Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nguyễn Huỳnh started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes Phan Thiet got a freekick which was hit by Nghiêm Quang. A collision led to Phan Thiet getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Nghiêm Minh hit a great ball. Phan Duong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Huỳnh in the 12th minute of play. Nguyễn Cuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phùng Cong Vinh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the match, Phan Thiet's Võ Hong sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Cuc narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Võ Hong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phan Thiet's supporters rose to their feet, but Võ Hong was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Cuc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Võ Hong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Cuc having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Võ Hong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Thu Dau Mot's Nguyễn Loc broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. Nguyễn Cuc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Võ Hong, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute Võ Hong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Cuc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd match minute, Thu Dau Mot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lê Thanh to maneuver through the defense. When Vũ Hieu Ngan fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thu Dau Mot's protests and gave Vũ Hieu Ngan a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Thu Dau Mot:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Phan Thiet:s goal. Thu Dau Mot:s Nguyễn Cuc showed great skill when he stopped Nguyễn Teo:s penalty. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Võ Hong made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Phùng Cong Vinh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phan Thiet's supporters rose to their feet, but Phùng Cong Vinh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Cuc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 57 minutes, Lê Thanh mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thu Dau Mot and the Phan Thiet players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lê Thanh kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Phan Duong stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Huỳnh's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. If Nguyễn Huỳnh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phan Duong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Huỳnh in the 88th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nguyễn Hoang during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 88th match minute, Phan Thiet was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Hoang to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Huỳnh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thu Dau Mot were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Phan Thiet for a fine match.
