With his leg Nguyễn Quang Thanh managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when Nam Dinh's Lê Cuc fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a little luck, My Tho's Nguyễn Quang Thanh got control of the ball when Lê Cuc tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 26th minute Phan Hanh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Hong Minh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. My Tho's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Nguyễn Tuan 46 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Phan Hanh to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Nguyễn Tuan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nam Dinh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Tuan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Nam Dinh fans cheered their team off the field, for while My Tho had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
