The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 56 minutes into the match, Dien Bien Phu's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Tuan came free, but Nguyễn Tran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Lê Cuc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nam Dinh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lê Cuc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nguyễn Tuan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Dien Bien Phu supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Dien Bien Phu would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
