Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Trần Xuan kicked off to start the match. Đặng Anh Hung hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sa Dec's goalkeeper Nguyễn Minh Phượng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 12 minutes, Nguyễn Hoang managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sa Dec's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Hoang was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Vi Thanh booed when Sa Dec was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Đặng Anh Hung didn't get a good kick on the ball. 14 minutes into the game, Huỳnh Cuc lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Nguyễn Minh Phượng. La Binh hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Phan Nghiêm-Minh was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 21st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The crowd rose to their feet as Trần Xuan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nguyễn Minh Phượng. That made the score 2-0 in the 31 minute of play. If Trần Xuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Trần Xuan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vi Thanh's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Xuan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Minh Phượng breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Trần Xuan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The supporters of Sa Dec booed when Vi Thanh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Tuan didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Trần Xuan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Minh Phượng was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Huỳnh Cuc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Minh Phượng having to interfere. Nguyễn Minh Phượng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Xuan in the 79th minute of the match. Huỳnh Cuc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nguyễn Minh Phượng having to make a save. 87 minutes into the match, Sa Dec's goal looked a bit too open when Huỳnh Cuc came free, but Nguyễn Minh Phượng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sa Dec's zone, Huỳnh Cuc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Minh Phượng came out of the goal and Huỳnh Cuc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Trần Xuan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Minh Phượng read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Huỳnh Cuc struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Nguyễn Minh Phượng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vi Thanh. If Trần Xuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sa Dec's Nguyễn Minh Phượng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Xuan in the 98th minute of play. Vi Thanh walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
