With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Bien prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Bien came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Xuân Lôc's Phan Thi. But to his dismay, Phan Thi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Lâm Tong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, Ngôi Sao Vàng's Lê Nga threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Trần Khoi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Ngôi Sao Vàng booed when Xuân Lôc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mai Dung didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ngôi Sao Vàng's Nguyễn Bien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phan Van Tai Em in the 33rd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Phan Van Tai Em notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Ngôi Sao Vàng's Nguyễn Bien. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 81st minute, Phan Thi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Phan Thi came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Xuân Lôc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phan Thi couldn't finish the play. Ngôi Sao Vàng's Nguyễn Bien proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Ngôi Sao Vàng from getting a goal against them. With his leg Nguyễn Bien managed to avoid a goal in the 91stth minute, when Xuân Lôc's Phan Thi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Phan Thi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Nguyễn Bien when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 98th minute, Lưu Minh-ha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Xuân Lôc's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
