Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Nguyễn Chuong got the match started through his kick off. Trần Dong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Tho, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 9th minute, Nguyễn Chuong left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kien Giang fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Trần Dong came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Thanh Hoa's Lê Tho. But to his dismay, Lê Tho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Liễu Hoa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Trần Dong stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lê Tho's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the match, Thanh Hoa's Lê Tho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Trần Dong narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nguyễn Hoang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Chuong in the 26th minute of play. Lê Tho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Trần Dong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Thanh Hoa defense, Liễu Hoa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nguyễn Hoang. The Thanh Hoa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nguyễn Hoang should have stopped the shot. If Võ Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Võ Duc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Trần Dong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Tho in the 52nd minute of play. Nguyễn Hoang stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Liễu Hoa's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. After a rather tough play, Thanh Hoa's Lê Duong got a free kick in the 54th minute. Nguyễn Chuong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Hoang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Chuong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 64 played minutes Thanh Hoa got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Lam. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Chuong in the 78th minute of play forced Thanh Hoa's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hoang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanh Hoa's Nguyễn Chung suffered a sore thigh after 80 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 81st match minute, Kien Giang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Chuong to maneuver through the defense. Võ Duc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Dong having to interfere.
