Nicholas Phua made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sarb Hongyi in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Hidayat Siang cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Aziz Hsin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Anil Shyan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicholas Phua having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darryl Yi-Sheng in the 20th minute of play forced Fakenham's goalkeeper Nicholas Phua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Royal Gunners FC's Anil Shyan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicholas Phua narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronn Dhanabalan in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. Nicholas Phua showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darryl Yi-Sheng in the 41st minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Fakenham's goal looked a bit too open when Anil Shyan came free, but Nicholas Phua reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Royal Gunners FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Fakenham were winning 1-2.

Nicholas Phua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anil Shyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hidayat Siang during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 71st minute, Hidayat Siang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
