The audience thought a goal was coming when Jonathan Chandran got free with Alex Soon in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alex Soon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Prime Paine's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. After 23 played minutes Dartsmouth United got a freekick which was hit by Alam Liang. In the 26th match minute, Dartsmouth United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Hian to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Dartsmouth United getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Ronn Hoe hit a great ball. If Prime Paine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alex Soon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Chandran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wei Xuan Shiong kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Alex Soon acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 36th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Prime Paine. The crowd rose to their feet as Jonathan Chandran kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alex Soon. That made the score 1-0 in the 39 minute of play. The audience was convinced that Jonathan Chandran's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alex Soon was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Alex Soon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jonathan Chandran in the 44th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zak Kang stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Dartsmouth United got a freekick which was hit by Faris Peng. Jonathan Chandran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Alex Soon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonathan Chandran's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute, Jonathan Chandran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Prime Paine kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute of the match, Ronn Hoe got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rifki Lim was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Azli Butcher during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Dartsmouth United booed when Toa Payoh Town was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Azli Butcher didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute Jonathan Chandran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Soon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Faris Siang charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The Toa Payoh Town fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dartsmouth United had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
