The crowd rose to their feet as Ferry Sitorus kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Donny Reza. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. Donny Reza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joko Cahyono Putro in the 10th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ferry Sitorus in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donny Reza saved Sabah from getting behind. Bongky Sitepu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Ferry Sitorus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donny Reza was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. With a little luck, Sabah's Donny Reza got control of the ball when Ferry Sitorus tried to sneak it across the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Sabah's goal looked a bit too open when Ferry Sitorus came free, but Donny Reza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Haryanto Tarigan fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Awitke's protests and gave Haryanto Tarigan a yellow card for diving instead. After 29 played minutes Awitke got a freekick which was hit by Haryanto Tarigan. Ade Simamora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bongky Sitepu, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute, Haryanto Tarigan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute Uum Ie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ade Simamora saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ade Simamora made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Haryanto Hans in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Sigit Eiboy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Donny Reza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferry Sitorus in the 40th minute of play. Bongky Sitepu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ade Simamora having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Awitke's goal looked a bit too open when Bongky Sitepu came free, but Ade Simamora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bongky Sitepu to make the kick off. The supporters of Sabah booed when Awitke was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sigit Eiboy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Awitke's zone, Hastomo Sembiring stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ade Simamora came out of the goal and Hastomo Sembiring tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Donny Reza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ferry Sitorus's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Awitke's Ferry Sitorus got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sabah's Donny Reza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferry Sitorus in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Rexy Perangin-angin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 76 minutes, Ade Simamora successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Ferry Sitorus put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Donny Reza. Donny Reza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferry Sitorus in the 87th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Ferry Sitorus made a precise shot to the right of Donny Reza. Sabah's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Awitke fully deserved thier win.
