The referee ignored DongShan烟草足球俱乐部's protests and gave 秦朗天 a yellow card for diving instead. 秦朗天 kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Red Bull FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anders Söderlund came free, but 顾辉皓 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 顾辉皓 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albeiro Usuriaga in the 18th minute of the match. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 范海升 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 江默岩 in the 47th minute of play. After the first half DongShan烟草足球俱乐部 were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Albeiro Usuriaga to strike the kick off in the second half.
