The audience was convinced that Duffield Wharton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Martyon Adamson was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hale Clark to strike the kick off in the second half. Browne Batterham took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Martyon Adamson. Martyon Adamson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The supporters of Toodyay booed when Yerrinbool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. James Trezise didn't get a good kick on the ball. Toodyay's Duffield Wharton got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Yerrinbool's Martyon Adamson got control of the ball when Browne Batterham tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 97 minutes, Duffield Wharton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Toodyay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duffield Wharton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
