Rodney Bundy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brett Kinnaird having to interfere. After 11 played minutes Bilinga got a freekick which was hit by Brent Skittrall. Kevin Stageman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Christina in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute Ray Christina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin Stageman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Bilinga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brent Skittrall to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Bilinga booed when Shepparton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paz Watman didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Bilinga getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Boyde Minne hit a great ball. Nero Woods received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Bilinga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Shepparton the free kick. 43 minutes into the game, one of Bilinga:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 45th minute there was a penalty for Shepparton. Conner Aliendi stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Kevin Stageman. 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nero Woods made a kick off. Shepparton's Ray Christina got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 54 minutes, Rodney Bundy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bilinga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodney Bundy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ray Christina struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Kevin Stageman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shepparton. In the 61st of the match, Nero Woods tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Kevin Stageman got in the way and made a wonderful save. Shepparton's Brett Kinnaird played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boyde Minne in the 67th minute of play. In the 69th minute Rodney Bundy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brett Kinnaird saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 70 in the game by Ray Christina from a close distance when the talented Kevin Stageman managed to make a qualified save. Bilinga's players were relieved. 73 minutes into the match, Bilinga's Boyde Minne sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brett Kinnaird narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Boyde Minne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Brett Kinnaird tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 97th minute Rodney Bundy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brett Kinnaird saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Shepparton walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
