Spectators: 7957 (Terracing: 5969, Seating: 1830, VIP seats: 158) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Mitchell Eversden took the kick off in the first half of the match. Matthew Loch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mitchell Eversden in the 4th minute of play. Oberne's Mitchell Eversden got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oberne's Jarvis Oreilly proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Oberne from getting a goal against them. Jarvis Oreilly took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rich Beins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Jervis Waller took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Jarvis Oreilly to make any attempt to save it. Jonty Beverley charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonty Beverley the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mitchell Eversden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 25 minutes into the match, Oberne's goalkeeper Jarvis Oreilly had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jervis Waller. Barnard Hodson hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Matt Cridland was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 27th minute. Tawonga's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Jarvis Oreilly took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matt Cridland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matt Cridland in the 28th minute of play forced Oberne's goalkeeper Jarvis Oreilly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Tawonga's goal looked a bit too open when Mitchell Eversden came free, but Matthew Loch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Mitchell Eversden had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Matthew Loch. Tawonga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mitchell Eversden was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 40th minute, Rolando Riley left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Oberne fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mitchell Eversden in the 43rd minute of play forced Tawonga's goalkeeper Matthew Loch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Tawonga players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Oberne were winning 1-2.

After a defensive mix-up in Tawonga's zone, Mitchell Eversden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Loch came out of the goal and Mitchell Eversden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rolando Riley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Matthew Loch having to make a save. Norman Cudmore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Matthew Loch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 58 minutes of play, Oberne's Rolando Riley made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Matthew Loch was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Tawonga's zone, Rolando Riley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Loch came out of the goal and Rolando Riley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Norman Cudmore was extremely unlucky when he, in the 68th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Jervis Waller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarvis Oreilly having to interfere. In the 72nd minute Jervis Waller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarvis Oreilly saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oberne's Jagger Hunn got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 80 played minutes Tawonga got a freekick which was hit by Jervis Waller. Mitchell Eversden kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Mitchell Eversden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oberne's supporters rose to their feet, but Mitchell Eversden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Loch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Hale Fitton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Oberne could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Tawonga throughout the match.
