The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Berny Tinsley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 18 in the game by Rudolph Sibbold from a close distance when the talented Ben Travers managed to make a qualified save. The comeback kids's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, The comeback kids's Aron Letsch got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Carson Feutrill came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by The comeback kids's Damon Laughton. But to his dismay, Damon Laughton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 30th match minute, The comeback kids was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ollie Bohn to maneuver through the defense. In the 33rd minute Elliott Sibbold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ben Travers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute, Jesse Glover hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Elliott Sibbold took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Ben Travers to make any attempt to save it. After 47 played minutes The comeback kids got a freekick which was hit by Berny Tinsley.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antonio Colman to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, Melbourne 2023 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karl Tinsley to maneuver through the defense. If Elliott Sibbold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Fleming Ziliotto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elliott Sibbold received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Ben Travers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Melbourne 2023's Adolph Gannan got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Melbourne 2023's goalkeeper Carson Feutrill, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Carson Feutrill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Colman in the 76th minute of play. If Rudolph Sibbold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, The comeback kids's Aron Letsch got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Antonio Tupman hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Carson Feutrill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Colman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Antonio Colman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carson Feutrill. That made the score 1-3 in the 94 minute of play. Carson Feutrill showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Colman in the 97th minute of the match. The Melbourne 2023 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching The comeback kids's performance. The match ended with a win for The comeback kids.
