Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Davey Pack ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 5th minute Burns Bennett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loud Awage saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ralph Mccartan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Brisbane FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Biddle Sparks hit a great ball. After 22 played minutes Tawonga got a freekick which was hit by Rick Fortington. In the 26th minute Burns Bennett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loud Awage saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Davey Pack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abbott Sylvester's late challenge caught a Brisbane FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abbott Sylvester helped the player get up and apologised. After 35 played minutes Tawonga got a freekick which was hit by Abbott Sylvester. Alexander Notley hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After 40 minutes, Danny Terris mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brisbane FC and the Tawonga players grew even worse after the yellow card. Art Copelin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bradshaw Lander was the one to do the kick off. Tawonga's Abbott Sylvester got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Britton Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bradshaw Lander in the 54th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Brisbane FC's Biddle Sparks got a free kick in the 56th minute. After having played for 68 minutes, Paco Greenbank managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brisbane FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paco Greenbank was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 72 played minutes Tawonga got a freekick which was hit by Ralph Mccartan. In the 73rdth minute of the game Burns Bennett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tawonga's Loud Awage was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Brisbane FC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Biddle Sparks hit a great ball. Loud Awage was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Burns Bennett showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 90 minute of play. Art Copelin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Britton Day tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Brisbane FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Tawonga throughout the match.
