Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jamese Mewburn started the match with the kick off. Britton Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jamese Mewburn in the 5th minute of the match. In the 7th minute of the match Reginald Maddern sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Britton Day skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mingoola's zone, Burns Bennett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Philip Luckham came out of the goal and Burns Bennett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Britton Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ike Mcgrath, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Edwardo Stafford kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Burns Bennetts short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Philip Luckham to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After having played for 16 minutes, Biddle Sparks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brisbane FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Biddle Sparks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Davey Pack received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Philip Luckham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Burns Bennett in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Philip Luckham prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Mingoola getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Edwardo Stafford hit a great ball. With a little luck, Mingoola's Philip Luckham got control of the ball when Burns Bennett tried to sneak it across the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Brisbane FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jamese Mewburn came free, but Britton Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Britton Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jamese Mewburn, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bran Bennett in the 39th minute of play forced Brisbane FC's goalkeeper Britton Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reginald Maddern during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 42 played minutes Mingoola got a freekick which was hit by Reginald Maddern. 46 minutes into the match, Bran Bennett had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Britton Day. Brisbane FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bran Bennett was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Burns Bennett made a kick off. Burns Bennett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Philip Luckham having to interfere. If Boyce Barclay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ike Mcgrath's late challenge caught a Brisbane FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ike Mcgrath helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Mingoola got a freekick which was hit by Ike Mcgrath. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Burns Bennett in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Philip Luckham saved Mingoola from getting behind. Britton Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jamese Mewburn in the 73rd minute of play. Mingoola's Ike Mcgrath got his second yellow card of the match in the 74th minute. The referee ordered Ike Mcgrath off the ground. Ike Mcgrath hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. If Danny Terris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 minutes, Jamese Mewburn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mingoola and the Brisbane FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Mingoola getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Jamese Mewburn hit a great ball. After 95 played minutes Mingoola got a freekick which was hit by Edwardo Stafford. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Burns Bennett in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Philip Luckham prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
