Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ray Markwell took the kick off in the first half of the match. Brookes Devine's late challenge caught a Gary's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brookes Devine helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gary booed when Mundalla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brookes Devine didn't get a good kick on the ball. 3 minutes into the match, Fabrizio Schulzte notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Mundalla's Mack Heath. Mack Heath was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 6th minute, Fabrizio Schulzte made a precise shot to the right of Mack Heath. Mundalla's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Cullen Batterham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brookes Devine in the 9th minute of play. Cullen Batterham was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Brookes Devine showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 13 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Mundalla's Everett Kuskoff got a free kick in the 18th minute. Arnold Conlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Everitt Johnston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abraham Tongs in the 29th minute of play forced Mundalla's goalkeeper Mack Heath to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute Ray Markwell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cullen Batterham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Everett Kuskoff managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mundalla's supporters rose to their feet, but Everett Kuskoff was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cullen Batterham breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 38 minutes into the match, Irwin Schulze notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Gary's Cullen Batterham. Cullen Batterham was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cullen Batterham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edwardo Phillips in the 43rd minute. 45 minutes into the match, Edwardo Phillips had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cullen Batterham. Gary's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edwardo Phillips was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlisle Laughton was the one to do the kick off. In the 61st minute, Brookes Devine ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cullen Batterham was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. After 64 minutes, Carlisle Laughton made it 4-3 with a short kick to the right side. Mundalla's Mack Heath tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Fabrizio Schulzte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Mundalla's Christian Fitton got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Cullen Batterham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Everett Kuskoff in the 79th minute of play. Best Foley hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Gary's Carlisle Laughton got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mack Heath made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabrizio Schulzte in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute Carlisle Laughton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mack Heath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Brookes Devine was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 89 minutes had been played. After 90 played minutes Mundalla got a freekick which was hit by Brookes Devine. 91 minutes into the game, Gary's Fabrizio Schulzte nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mack Heath made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-4. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
