The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ellis Hoskin got free with Art Hauschildt in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 8 minutes into the match, Titipounamu's goalkeeper Art Hauschildt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ellis Hoskin. Bona Corona made a great header on Titipounamu's corner, it was just that Australian Youth Academy's Tom Riddle managed to reach the ball for a save. Tom Riddle came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Titipounamu's Nando Pereira. But to his dismay, Nando Pereira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Garth Brough received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Art Hauschildt came out and tried to block the shot, but Garth Brough slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 23rd minute. With a little luck, Titipounamu's Art Hauschildt got control of the ball when Garth Brough tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Titipounamu booed when Australian Youth Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brown Haslett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Garth Brough came free with the goalkeeper in the 33rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Art Hauschildt could save by the left post. In the 35th minute Nando Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Riddle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
