In the 63rd match minute, GRÊMIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maicon Capitão to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in GRÊMIO's zone, Ciriaco Cordarrell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lázaro Mincho came out of the goal and Ciriaco Cordarrell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as GRÊMIO's Abel Pirani slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Claudio Berriotxoa. That made the score 0-1 after 71 minutes of play. In the 74th minute, Anísio Esteves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to GRÊMIO getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Décio Pinho hit a great ball. After having played for 79 minutes, Marcelo Michael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SAN LORENZO FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo Michael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ciriaco Cordarrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geovanni Maia kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Ciriaco Cordarrell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Lázaro Mincho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ciriaco Cordarrell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lázaro Mincho was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. 91 minutes into the game, GRÊMIO's 史挺南 nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
