An unexpectedly hard shot by Greig Robison in the 5th minute of play forced Orkney United HD's goalkeeper David Stenhouse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Stenhouse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremy Isles, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 8 minutes into the game, Brandon Bontein was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Orkney United HD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardrossan HT the free kick. In the 15th minute, Munro McCombie left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Orkney United HD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. If Greig Robison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Grant McLeverty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Stenhouse having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Aidan Bunten was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Orkney United HD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardrossan HT the free kick. Greig Robison might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Stenhouse. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Stenhouse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greig Robison in the 42nd minute of play. David Stenhouse showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greig Robison in the 45th minute of the match. Orkney United HD's David Stenhouse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremy Isles in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Scott McNeiledge to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Munro McCombie in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mark Hawson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mark Hawson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brandon Bontein in the 57th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Munro McCombie in the 58th minute of play forced Ardrossan HT's goalkeeper Mark Hawson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute Scott McNeiledge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Hawson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 65 minutes of play, Orkney United HD's Munro McCombie made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mark Hawson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mark Hawson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Scott McNeiledge went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. After 74 played minutes Jeremy Isles rounded Orkney United HD's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 5-1. Grant McLeverty struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. David Stenhouse didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ardrossan HT. An unexpectedly hard shot by Munro McCombie in the 82nd minute of play forced Ardrossan HT's goalkeeper Mark Hawson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the game, Munro McCombie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Mark Hawson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 92 minutes into the match, Orkney United HD's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremy Isles came free, but David Stenhouse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Graham Clement hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeremy Isles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Orkney United HD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. David Stenhouse made an important save on a dangerous shot by Grant McLeverty in the 97th minute. Ardrossan HT's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
