Mark Hawson was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Désiré Riant showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. Mario Patissier blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mark Hawson having to make a save. Mark Hawson made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Mario Patissier sent off a good shot on target. Ardrossan HT's Mark Hawson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Ardrossan HT from getting a goal against them. 18 minutes into the game, Désiré Riant cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Mark Hawson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Désiré Riant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th match minute, Ardrossan HT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Murray Ruskin to maneuver through the defense. FC Barcelone's Étienne Bouvet got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Greig Robison got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mark Hawson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ryan Morais in the 31st minute. Mark Cassels hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Mark Hawson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Désiré Riant in the 36th minute of the match. Grant McLeverty might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Samir Chanel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Grant McLeverty ran back to his position shaking his head. When Mario Patissier fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Barcelone's protests and gave Mario Patissier a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Barcelone getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Mario Patissier hit a great ball. In the 46th minute of the match, Désiré Riant tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mark Hawson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Rupert McCeallaich kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 52nd minute, Étienne Bouvet got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mark Hawson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ryan Morais, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. 56 minutes into the match, Ardrossan HT's goal looked a bit too open when Mario Patissier came free, but Mark Hawson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Ryan Morais notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Ardrossan HT's Mark Hawson. Mark Hawson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. FC Barcelone's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilbert Boucault was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mark Hawson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the game, Désiré Riant cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Mark Hawson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mark Hawson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mario Patissier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Ardrossan HT getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Mark Cassels hit a great ball. Mark Hawson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Désiré Riant, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Grant McLeverty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samir Chanel having to interfere. Ardrossan HT's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
