In the 21st minute Henrik Berg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Kieca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Sebastian Käller had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Daniel Kieca. Poland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sebastian Käller was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tadeusz Raschke got free with Gustaf Eklund in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Käller in the 28th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Daniel Kieca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustaf Eklund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeusz Raschke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the game, Sweden's Sebastian Käller nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sweden's Gustaf Eklund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tadeusz Raschke in the 54th minute of play. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Poland's goalkeeper Daniel Kieca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gustaf Eklund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tadeusz Raschke's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Cezary Makomaski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gustaf Eklund.
