With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stepan Firago saved Belarus from getting behind. Stepan Firago stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Belarus's Stepan Firago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dušan Vlahovic in the 11th minute of play. Jeremije Mirković made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nester Skabelko in the 13th minute. Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stepan Firago having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dušan Vlahovic in the 17th minute of play forced Belarus's goalkeeper Stepan Firago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Svetaslav Yanchyk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Jeremije Mirković tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stepan Firago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rastko Santrač in the 24th minute of play. If Rastko Santrač had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nester Skabelko in the 35th minute of play forced Serbia's goalkeeper Jeremije Mirković to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Svetaslav Yanchyk kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Stepan Firago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, Dušan Vlahovic had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stepan Firago. Belarus's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dušan Vlahovic was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half Serbia were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Svetaslav Yanchyk made a kick off. Dušan Vlahovic's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stepan Firago read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Stepan Firago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Serbia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Petr Lykov ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Petr Lykov almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Serbia's Jeremije Mirković did a great save. Milija Ivanić could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Stepan Firago made a huge save. Stepan Firago showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo in the 87th minute of the match. Andrey Shevchenko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 92 minutes, Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Serbia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stepan Firago was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Andrey Shevchenko capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Andrey Shevchenko really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Serbia had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
