A wasted opportunity for CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA. Cornel Filimon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Pavalescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Osvaldo Fontana scored 1-0 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Adrian Bocaneț, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Osvaldo Fontana might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adrian Bocaneț. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Osvaldo Fontana ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the SSC Steaua defense, Corneliu Oroian kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adrian Bocaneț. The SSC Steaua fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adrian Bocaneț should have stopped the shot. In the 14th minute, SSC Steaua's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Osvaldo Fontana fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Cornel Filimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denis Pavalescu in the 15th minute of play. Corneliu Oroian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Adrian Bocaneț tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adrian Bocaneț was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Corneliu Oroian capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Corneliu Oroian really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. In the 24th minute, Lucero Cabrera ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adrian Bocaneț was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet as CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA's Osvaldo Fontana slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Adrian Bocaneț. That made the score 5-0 after 26 minutes of play. Corneliu Oroian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Osvaldo Fontana in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrian Bocaneț saved SSC Steaua from getting behind. Osvaldo Fontana recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 40 minutes, Dan Baran mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SSC Steaua and the CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Adrian Bocaneț successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 46th minute, Mugur Isăcescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrian Bocaneț was a little too slow when Corneliu Oroian got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 47th minute. The score was now 6-0.

If Corneliu Oroian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denis Pavalescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrian Bocaneț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Fontana in the 59th minute of play. Osvaldo Fontana struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Niculae Ciulei charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niculae Ciulei the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 79th minute, Niculae Ciulei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrian Bocaneț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Fontana in the 79th minute of the match. After some careless play in the SSC Steaua defense, Osvaldo Fontana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adrian Bocaneț. The SSC Steaua fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adrian Bocaneț should have stopped the shot. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. CS UNIVERSATEA CRAIOVA had played much better football throughout.
