Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Rouven Bauer hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 9th minute Timo Kaltenbach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Espagnet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobías Gunnarsson in the 10th minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Robin Erbler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Timo Kaltenbach fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Austria's protests and gave Timo Kaltenbach a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th match minute, U21 Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timo Kaltenbach to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute Tobías Gunnarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin Erbler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Austria's Robin Erbler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Austria from getting a goal against them. U21 France's Tobías Gunnarsson got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Noël Chiche kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Jan-Moritz Busse managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Austria's supporters rose to their feet, but Jan-Moritz Busse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manuel Espagnet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robin Erbler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tobías Gunnarsson in the 25th minute of the match. Raphael Ulrich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 30 minutes of play, U21 France's Tobías Gunnarsson made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Robin Erbler was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 33rd minute of the match, Tobías Gunnarsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Robin Erbler saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 35 minutes into the match, U21 Austria's goalkeeper Robin Erbler had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tobías Gunnarsson. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tobías Gunnarsson in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robin Erbler prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 47th match minute, U21 Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mario Moser to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Timo Kaltenbach to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan-Moritz Busse got free with Manuel Espagnet in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Austria's goalkeeper Robin Erbler, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 61 minutes into the match, U21 Austria's goal looked a bit too open when Tobías Gunnarsson came free, but Robin Erbler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan-Moritz Busse got free with Manuel Espagnet in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manuel Espagnet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphael Ulrich, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 70 minutes into the match, U21 France's goal looked a bit too open when Timo Kaltenbach came free, but Manuel Espagnet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Timo Kaltenbach's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Espagnet was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Manuel Espagnet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Moritz Busse in the 76th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by J.P. Kapar in the 79th minute of play forced U21 Austria's goalkeeper Robin Erbler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 83 played minutes U21 France got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Escudié. U21 France's Romuald Benaissa was substituted for Jarod Castillo. Freddy Escudié hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. 86 minutes into the game, Guy Jourdan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 France's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Austria the free kick. After taking down the ball on U21 France's corner Freddy Escudié fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Robin Erbler quite easily take care of the ball.
