Brooks Oneill was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dantae Lahoz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 4 minute of play. The audience was convinced that Dantae Lahoz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brooks Oneill was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. 12 minutes into the match, Australia's goalkeeper Brooks Oneill had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Alvarenga. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Australia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Austin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Faustino Bordon kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dallas Fasey in the 20th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Efraim Leizaur to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Esteves hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Australia's Brooks Oneill got control of the ball when Dantae Lahoz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Paraguay's Efraim Leizaur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steve Austin in the 30th minute of play. Dantae Lahoz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Brooks Oneill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dantae Lahoz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brooks Oneill read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Paraguay's Valentine Hernandez was substituted for Cristian Alvarenga. Paraguay's Guillelme Lomas was substituted for Eate Fonoll. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Angelo Prior was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Australia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luis Esteves was slow to take the kick. During this time Paraguay's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Paraguay's Luis Esteves to fire away a dangerous shot which Brooks Oneill despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 56 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Charles Puyol. 58 minutes into the match, Valentine Hernandez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brooks Oneill. Australia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valentine Hernandez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. After a rather tough play, Australia's Darin Prior got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Valentine Hernandez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brooks Oneill read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Paraguay made a substitution. Ado Dueñas replaced Denis Inestrosa. Paraguay's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luis Esteves in the 71st minute. The corner led Paraguay's Lapurdi Jaramillo to fire away a dangerous shot which Brooks Oneill despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Lapurdi Jaramillo notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Australia's Brooks Oneill. Brooks Oneill was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 75 minutes into the match, Paraguay's Valentine Hernandez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brooks Oneill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paraguay's Luis Esteves managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Darin Prior in the 76 minute of the game. 80 minutes into the match, Paraguay's Valentine Hernandez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brooks Oneill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valentine Hernandez in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brooks Oneill saved Australia from getting behind. Darin Prior kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Paraguay fans cheered their team off the field, for while Australia had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
