Indonesia's Haji Sarap played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliver Bierhoff in the 10th minute of play. Italy's Ciccio Bocchi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arvin Sutrisna in the 12th minute of play. In the 15th minute Arvin Sutrisna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciccio Bocchi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Bierhoff in the 16th minute of play forced Indonesia's goalkeeper Haji Sarap to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oliver Bierhoff blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Haji Sarap having to make a save. In the 24th minute Oliver Bierhoff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haji Sarap saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 27 minutes, Cristoforo Daniele managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bodo Amat made in the 46th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Italy's Dino Grilli.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arvin Sutrisna to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Italy had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
