An unexpectedly hard shot by Judas Verón in the 9th minute of play forced Russia's goalkeeper Aleksandr Ivannikov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Russia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Albano Jaunzuria was slow to take the kick. During this time Argentina's players had a chance to rest. With an all-out effort, Argentina's Aleksandr Ivannikov threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Albano Jaunzuria, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Patricio Ugutz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Georgiy Voroshilov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Judas Verón's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Aleksandr Ivannikov skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 20th match minute, Russia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vladimir Moskvin to maneuver through the defense. Kay Izquierdoz made in the 23rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Ambrosio Fiz. 24 minutes into the match, Russia's goal looked a bit too open when Judas Verón came free, but Aleksandr Ivannikov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Judas Verón took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aleksandr Ivannikov. Aleksandr Ivannikov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Patricio Ugutz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roman Baibakov in the 29th minute of the match. Judas Verón kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 30thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Russia's keeper Aleksandr Ivannikov was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. After 30 played minutes Russia got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Moskvin. After 33 minutes Russia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Albano Jaunzuria who took care of the corner kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roman Baibakov in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patricio Ugutz saved Argentina from getting behind. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Roman Baibakov sped through Argentina's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Patricio Ugutz. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Roman Baibakov made the kick off in the second half. When Argentina's Judas Verón in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Russia's goalie prevented a goal. Russia's Aleksandr Ivannikov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Judas Verón in the 64th minute of play. After 65 played minutes Russia got a freekick which was hit by Filipp Gandurin. Aleksandr Ivannikov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albano Jaunzuria in the 67th minute of play. After 68 minutes Russia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Albano Jaunzuria who took care of the corner kick. Argentina's Ambrosio Fiz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Aleksandr Ivannikov in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Argentina's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Albano Jaunzuria in the 70th minute. If Ambrosio Fiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kay Izquierdoz charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kay Izquierdoz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 72nd minute, Kay Izquierdoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Georgiy Voroshilov in the 75th minute of play forced Argentina's goalkeeper Patricio Ugutz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patricio Ugutz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Georgiy Voroshilov in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Georgiy Voroshilov came free, but Patricio Ugutz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a left leg Patricio Ugutz saved Argentina from getting behind. In the 96th minute Russia were awarded a corner. Filipp Gandurin went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Filipp Gandurin almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Argentina's Patricio Ugutz did a great save. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
