Ciccio Bocchi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abdelhamid Matoub in the 11th minute of the match. Zīn ud-Dīn Soltani made in the 17th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Fergani Skif however managed to control. 18 minutes into the match, Oliver Bierhoff dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Albert Boutabout, 1-1. Albert Boutabout took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver Bierhoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mohammad Laref in the 26th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Ciccio Bocchi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zīn ud-Dīn Soltani kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. MZ Country's Albert Boutabout played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliver Bierhoff in the 40th minute of play. Italy's Mattia Hummels managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Zīn ud-Dīn Soltani in the 41 minute of the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
