In the 9th minute, Scotland's Alexander McCuag ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Klemen Mikuž. Klemen Mikuž yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 16th minute, Armando Vogrinčič made a precise shot to the right of Adrian McKinning. Scotland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Slovenia's Klemen Mikuž proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Slovenia from getting a goal against them. In the 23rd minute of the match, Alexander McCuag tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Klemen Mikuž saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With an all-out effort, Scotland's Klemen Mikuž threw himself towards the right post 23 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alexander McCuag, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Klemen Mikuž took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vincent Devlin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Vincent Devlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Scotland's Vincent Devlin shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 32nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Klemen Mikuž but with some difficulty. Klemen Mikuž showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander McCuag, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. When Armando Vogrinčič came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Slovenia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armando Vogrinčič couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Alexander McCuag took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Klemen Mikuž to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armando Vogrinčič made a kick off. Armando Vogrinčič sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Adrian McKinning showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Vogrinčič, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In the 53rd minute Alexander McCuag shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klemen Mikuž saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Calum McKechnie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Klemen Mikuž tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Klemen Mikuž showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander McCuag, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. A collision led to Slovenia getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Anton Kutnjak hit a great ball. Armando Vogrinčič recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alexander McCuag in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Klemen Mikuž saved Slovenia from getting behind. Darius Colson kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Adrian McKinning successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 81st minute of the match Slovenia got a corner. Scotland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Armando Vogrinčič ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Amar Janežič managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 86 minutes into the game, Vincent Devlin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Klemen Mikuž was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Slovenia's Klemen Mikuž played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calum McKechnie in the 89th minute of play. Slovenia's Anton Kutnjak managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Edmond Limond in the 90 minute of the game. Armando Vogrinčič's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adrian McKinning read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, Slovenia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dagmar Zupančič to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calum McKechnie in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Klemen Mikuž saved Slovenia from getting behind. In the 96th match minute, Slovenia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anton Kutnjak to maneuver through the defense. Scotland's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
