After 11 played minutes Virgilio Lawrence rounded U21 Peru's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. In the 15th minute, U21 Argentina's Virgilio Lawrence dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. 17 minutes into the game, Xanti Lastras threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Argentina's Juan Huerta quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Virgilio Lawrence blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erez Manco having to make a save. Thanks to some nice moves Virgilio Lawrence could shoot a difficult shot in the 21st minute, which Erez Manco however easily saved by the left post. When Virgilio Lawrence fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Argentina's protests and gave Virgilio Lawrence a yellow card for diving instead. U21 Argentina's Juan Huerta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Xanti Lastras, made in the 30th minute of the game. U21 Argentina's Sebastián Junes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uzuri Sarabia in the 33rd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, U21 Peru's goalkeeper Erez Manco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Virgilio Lawrence. In the 37th minute Virgilio Lawrence shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erez Manco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th match minute, U21 Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucas Huidobro to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

U21 Peru's Kev Hurtado was substituted for Iván Sotomayor. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guaberto Valiente was the one to do the kick off. U21 Peru's Erez Manco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guaberto Valiente in the 53rd minute of play. The throw-in from Xanti Lastras in the 54th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by U21 Argentina's José Luis Brown. U21 Argentina's Sebastián Junes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Argentina from getting a goal against them. In the 58th minute, Kev Hurtado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sebastián Junes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. U21 Argentina's Cipriano Laffitte was substituted for Eusebio Cordarius. U21 Argentina made a substitution. Marco van Basten replaced Virgilio Lawrence. José Luis Brown kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vicente Locatelli got free with Sebastián Junes in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco van Basten in the 68th minute of play forced U21 Peru's goalkeeper Erez Manco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vicente Locatelli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastián Junes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Erez Manco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octavio Bianchi in the 74th minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Vicente Locatelli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Peru's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Argentina the free kick. A collision led to U21 Peru getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Vicente Locatelli hit a great ball. Erez Manco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavio Bianchi in the 79th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Kev Hurtado notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of U21 Argentina's Sebastián Junes. Sebastián Junes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. U21 Argentina's Sebastián Junes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Argentina from getting a goal against them. Erez Manco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavio Bianchi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
